Lubbock Birth Photographer: The Birth of Kaylee

When Kasandra contacted me for birth photography, I admired her so much for planning a homebirth as a first-time mom. This is truly rare. Most first time moms don't trust the process of birth or their bodies to do this. I certainly didn't as a first-time mom, although I wish I would have had that courage.

Kasandra called and let me know she was in early labor the day before Easter. I had all my bags packed and ready to head over once she gave me the go ahead. Kasandra labored all day with contractions fairly spread out.

Late that night when I finally came to her home, she was well into active labor focusing through each contraction. Her doula was already there when I got there and her midwife arrived shortly after me. Kasandra worked beautifully on her birth ball with her husband constantly by her giving her support.

She moved back and forth from the living room to the bathroom to her bedroom. Her husband caught their daughter in their bed with the help of the midwife untangling the umbilical cord that was wrapped all around her body.

Kaylee was 6 pounds 2 ounces with only 8 minutes of pushing!
